FAMILIARISATION TOUR OF THE HON. REGIONAL MINISTER TO NANDOM
The Hon. Regional Minister paid a familiarisation tour to the Nandom District Assembly on the 28th of April, 2017 with an entourage from the Regional coordinating council, the Regional Police commander, the Regional fire commander, the prison commander, the resident commander of the army based in Wa and a host of dignitaries from the region.
The first point of call was at the District Assembly, where he met with the District Coordinating Director and was led to the overlord and paramount Chief of the Nandom traditional area and his sub-chiefs at the palace. The Hon. Minister was warmly welcomed by the Paramount Chief and his sub-chiefs and council of elders to the District. He expressed his satisfaction of the nomination of the regional minister to this high office by the President and assured him of his support for the development of the Region.
On his part the Hon Regional minster also acknowledged the great reception granted him and noted the invaluable contribution of the traditional authority to the development of our dear country. He also noted that one of the challenges of the District is poor road network but was quick to add that the town roads are currently been tired and assure them that the other roads would be fixed soon. He further encouraged all to support ad take advantage of the “Planting for Food and Jobs” program since it will help to reduce food insecurity and improve upon the nutritional status of the people in the District. He also appealed for the people of Nandom to approve and support the District Chief Executive nominee by the president for the development of the District.
Finally the Hon. Minister met with the Staff of the District Assembly and the Decentralised Departments of the District. The District Coordinating Director in this meeting mentioned some to the minister that actions should be taken to speedily finish the Assembly office complex to enable the Assembly properly accommodate itself and other decentralised departments. He further added that the District had no staffs posted to fill the Physical Planning Department.
In the Hon. Regional Minister’s remarks he encouraged staff to work as a team in order to achieve the critical success that the District aims at achieving in the Decentralisation system of the country. He acknowledged the numerous constraints mentioned by the District Coordinating Director and assured to work with the support of all to achieve the desired goal that we all seek. He also mentioned about the President nominee of the District Chief Executive and appealed that staff should support him when confirmed to carry out his mandate for the total development of the District.
