Social Welfare Department Disburses Grants to Selected PWD Beneficiaries in the Municipality.

Today, 19th May 2026, the Social Welfare and Community Development Department successfully issued grants to selected Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) within the municipality as part of efforts to support and improve their livelihoods.

Following a thorough vetting process, the committee approved 64 beneficiaries out of a total of 315 applicants. An amount of GHS 256,000 was disbursed to the selected beneficiaries to support their economic activities and general well-being.

During the exercise, the Director of Social Welfare and Community Development sensitized beneficiaries on the importance of the grants and advised them on the proper utilization of the funds to ensure long-term benefits and sustainability.

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Anthony Ziniel, also addressed the beneficiaries and encouraged them to make effective use of the support provided to improve their lives and contribute positively to society.

The event concluded with a free blood pressure screening exercise for beneficiaries and participants.
