The 2ND Ordinary sitting of the Assembly.
The 2ND Ordinary sitting of the Assembly was held on Friday, 22nd of July, 2022 at Nandom Assembly Hall, Danko. In attendance were; The Hon. MCE, Hon. Raymond Nero, The Municipal Coordinating Director, Madam Esther Abaching, Hon. Assembly Members, Assembly Staff, Head of Security Agencies and some invited guests which was then chaired by the newly elected Presiding Member, Hon. Sylvester Isang. The Previous minutes were read for deliberations on issues to commence. Afterwards, The Hon. MCE, Raymond Nero in accordance with the Local Governance Act, 936 read his speech which highlighted on the various activities that had happened after the last sitting. It captured on issues of Security where he was elated to make it known again to the house that the Nandom Municipal had finally had a substantive Chief, Naa Prof. Edmund Nminnyem Delle Chiir VIII making the chieftaincy related disturbances that once plagued the Municipality, now a history.
He hastened to address the house on issues of Terrorism which had been the major conversation nationwide. He told the Honorable house not hesitate to “See Something” and Say Something” and also be agents to spread the word in their various communities. On Education, The Super Stem Project was one major project the Municipal was going to be a major beneficiary of, He opined.
The 2nd National Green Ghana Day which is an initiative of the President of Ghana had a collaborative observation by the Hon. Members and the Nandom Municipality distributing a total of 10,000 seedlings to the Municipal Stakeholders by the Forestry Commission which were planted across the Municipality. The Novel COVID-19 virus continuous to remain with everyone hence on issues of Health, He urged all Departments, Units and Agencies not to let let their guards down but observing the protocols by wearing their nose masks at all times at their work places. Reassessment of the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty Programme was an immense concern since it was to ascertain the poverty status and eligibility of the households in the Municipality.
Roads development he mentioned had started on some selected roads across the Municipality under the Urban Roads project citing examples of a 3.2km road from the Midwifery-Tom stretch, an extension of a 2.4km road from Gaamuoyir to Dodonmeteng Koper. These and many more activities including; The Disability Fund, Proposed DACF-RFG and DACF Sub Projects, Partnerships for Municipal Innovation and women in local leadership, CLASS Project implementation, Master Care Foundation Programme, CARE International, the CIKOD Programme etc.
The Second ordinary sitting also had representations of ConPAHT Talitha Kum, a Foundation creating public awareness on Human Trafficking and a Presentation of Analysis on the 2019/2020 and 2020/2021 B.E.C.E Results by the G.E.S Directorate.
The sitting was then adjourned followed by the Presiding Member’s closing remarks.
