On 17th September 2026, Chiefs, Queen Mothers and Opinion Leaders in the Nandom Municipality participated in a training program on Gender-Based Violence (GBV) as part of the implementation of the PMI WILL Project.

The training brought together traditional and community leaders to deepen their understanding of gender-based violence, its causes, effects, and the important role traditional authorities can play in preventing and responding to GBV within their communities.

The engagement also provided a platform for participants to discuss practical ways of promoting gender equality, protecting vulnerable persons, supporting survivors, and strengthening community mechanisms for addressing GBV.

Traditional leaders remain important voices in community development, and their commitment and leadership can contribute significantly to creating communities where women, girls and all members of society can live with dignity, safety, and equal opportunities.

The Nandom Municipal Assembly, through its collaboration with partners under the PMI WILL Project, continues to support community-level interventions aimed at promoting inclusive development, gender equality, and the prevention of gender-based violence.
