The Nandom Municipal Assembly has successfully handed over a number of completed development projects to beneficiary communities as part of efforts to improve access to essential social services and infrastructure across the Municipality. The handing-over ceremonies were held on 15th and 16th September 2026 and brought together the Member of Parliament for the Nandom Municipality, Dr. Richard Kuuire, the Municipal Chief Executive and staff of the Nandom Municipal Assembly, the Ghana Education Service Director, the Health Director, the Ghana Police Service and other security agencies, chiefs and elders of the beneficiary communities, school pupils, and other concerned citizens.

The projects handed over covered important sectors including healthcare, education, water and sanitation, and community security. The health-related projects included CHPS compounds constructed for the communities of Tokuu and Bapula. These facilities are expected to bring basic healthcare services closer to residents and improve access to primary healthcare, particularly for women, children, the elderly, and other vulnerable members of the communities.

In the area of security, a Police Post was constructed at Kokoligu and formally handed over to the community. The facility is expected to strengthen the presence and accessibility of security services in Kokoligu and surrounding communities and support efforts to maintain peace and security within the Municipality.

The Assembly also handed over two-unit Kindergarten blocks at Zimuopare, Ko-Bukong, and Betaglu. The facilities are expected to provide a more conducive learning environment for children and support the delivery of quality early childhood education. In addition, a Junior High School block was handed over at Monyupelle to improve access to basic education and provide a suitable environment for teaching and learning.

To improve access to potable water, five mechanized pumps were provided at Goziir Nuruyir, Bu, Tuopare, Tankyaraa, and Kusiele. Ten additional hand pumps were also provided at Bu, Bapula, Kokoligu, Kuutuuryir, Betaglu, Taayaga, Tokuu, Ginugangn, Dabagteng, and Vapuo. These water facilities are expected to reduce the difficulties residents face in accessing potable water and contribute to improved hygiene, sanitation, and general well-being in the beneficiary communities.

The handing-over ceremonies provided an opportunity for the Municipal Assembly and its development partners to interact directly with the beneficiary communities and explain the importance of the projects. The participation of the Member of Parliament, the Municipal Chief Executive, heads of government departments, security agencies, traditional authorities, school pupils, and community members demonstrated the collective commitment of stakeholders towards the development of the Nandom Municipality.

The beneficiary communities were encouraged to take ownership of the facilities, use them responsibly, and ensure their proper maintenance. Community members were also urged to work closely with the relevant government institutions and the Municipal Assembly to protect the facilities from vandalism and ensure that they continue to serve their intended purposes.

The Nandom Municipal Assembly appreciates the participation and support of all stakeholders who contributed to the success of the handing-over ceremonies. The Assembly remains committed to working with traditional authorities, government institutions, development partners, and communities to improve infrastructure and enhance the quality of life of the people of Nandom Municipality.
